Practical and Empowering
Emerald Heart is a small yoga school and business started in 2013 by Mara Campbell, M.Ed. E-RYT. After teaching public yoga classes for eight years and co-teaching three teacher trainings, Mara created her own practical, comprehensive, and empowering curriculum.
Emerald Heart symbolizes the color of the fourth chakra, Anahata, and emerald is the birthstone for Mara and her Grandmother. Anahata is often translated as "unstuck," which for Mara means aspiring to live in a flow of grace and kindness.
Mara began practicing yoga in 1997 in Madison, Wisconsin when a friend recommended it for stress relief. She found immense emotional and physical healing through yoga and meditation and became a curious student of these practices. This led her to a teacher training and she was certified in 2007 in the Anusara yoga tradition. She now teaches yoga full time and considers herself blessed to have found her passion and her community.
Emerald Heart has trained over 50 instructors with a Yoga Alliance certified curriculum and continues to offer 200-hour registered teacher trainings in the Chicagoland area.
Yoga Teacher Training
We offer 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher trainings once a year at studios in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Our instructors are all highly trained and we pride ourselves on providing a quality experience.
Our trainings cover all syllabus requirements of Yoga Alliance, including asana, inner and outer alignment, anatomy, pranayama, meditation, sequencing, teaching methodology and more.
Our trainings are small – usually around ten participants – which allows you to receive individual attention in both your practice and your teaching skills.
Corporate and Desk Yoga
Emerald Heart offers corporate and desk yoga classes. Corporate yoga is usually a regular yoga session that includes a full spectrum class. The class level can depend on the needs of the group. We are happy to bring props and mats to the session.
Desk yoga is usually at a conference room or large meeting space. Desk yoga is designed for all levels of mobility, taught mainly in chairs and does not require mats or yoga clothing. Desk yoga typically works on tension release, mindful breathing and joint mobility.
